Fabrice Smieliauskas, PhD


RESEARCH INTERESTS

Fabrice Smieliauskas is a health economist and health services researcher in the Department of Public Health Sciences. His research on pharmaceuticals and medical devices in cancer and surgery addresses questions requiring a cross-disciplinary marriage of rigorous economic methods with biological and clinical knowledge. This work falls under three main themes: 1) determining the costs and value of medical technologies and procedures; 2) advancing the field of implementation science in health care; 3) analyzing the effects of public policy and regulation on the biomedical research enterprise. He co-founded the Cancer Outcomes and Policy Workgroup at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center, and teaches the core course of the university’s Graduate Program in Health Administration and Policy while serving on its Advisory Board.
