The Center for Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention in The Department of Health Studies and the NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Chicago seek candidates for a fully-funded postdoctoral position in the areas of Genetic, Molecular, Environmental, and Cancer Epidemiology. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related field.

Successful candidates will participate in NIH-funded genomic and molecular epidemiology research using data and bio-specimens collected in the international setting. The general research focus will be on understanding the interplay between genomic factors (genome-wide measures of SNPs, DNA methylation, gene expression) environmental exposures (arsenic, dietary factors), and molecular phenotypes (telomeres, inflammatory markers), and determining their roles in cancers of the skin cancer, pre-malignant skin lesions, as well as other cancer types and health conditions.

Strong statistical and programming skills are essential (e.g., SAS, R, STATA). Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be strongly preferred: analysis and management of large-scale genomic datasets, familiarity with wet-lab aspects of molecular epidemiology, experience and interest in environmental and/or cancer epidemiology.

Postdoctoral Fellows will be mentored to pursue independent research careers. The University of Chicago offers outstanding training opportunities for multidisciplinary Cancer and Genetic Epidemiology research by providing state of the art research resources encompassing a large number of faculty members involved in epidemiological, molecular and statistical aspects of genomic and gene-environment research; access to high throughput genomic facilities and related biostatistical and bioinformatics support; and clinical data/biospecimen repositories from multiethnic populations.
